What is hot melt and what are the benefits of using hot melt?
Tecbond hot melt adhesives allow immediate, permanent bonding of a wide variety of materials. All this is done without the use of harmful solvents. Our hot melt adhesives are available as sticks or cartridges and are easily loaded into glue guns. The solid glue is passed through a heated chamber where it melts and can be sprayed through the nozzle by gently pushing the trigger.
Most materials can be glued with hot melt glue provided the parts can be joined while the glue is still melted. When the parts are pressed together, heat is quickly diffused through the substrates, causing the adhesive to harden and provide an instant bond or seal. The processing times of our hot melt adhesives range from a few seconds to a few minutes; it depends on the formulation of the adhesive, the ambient temperature, the temperature of the substrate and the amount and composition of the adhesive used.
Tecbond hot melt adhesives are 100% solid, non-toxic adhesives with no solvents (VOC-free) or water. Users do not have to worry about odors or mold on finished products or paying for a solvent that evaporates anyway. Tecbond hot melt adhesives are safe and easy to store and have an almost unlimited shelf life.
Our selection of Tec glue guns are designed to be used with the wide range of Tecbond adhesives. These products are easy, fast and reliable. They are high-quality capital goods with a favorable price, designed to be completely reliable even in the most demanding industrial environments. Tec glue guns can apply hot melt adhesives in bead, spot and even spray patterns, depending on the glue gun used. The watt rating of the gun normally determines the melt rate and should be chosen based on the amount of glue needed per assembly, and the number of assemblies needed per hour. In general, the larger devices are more powerful and can consume larger amounts of hot melt adhesive at the proper temperature for optimal bonding.
