Furniture Bonding
Various industrial adhesives are used in the furniture industry, for example, for making wood joints such as mortise and tenon joints, dovetail joints, and dowel joints, and for veneer applications. The specialty adhesives listed below have been applied to specific applications within this field.
Wood joint gluing
For gluing wooden joints (e.g. mortise-and-tenon joints, dowel joints for furniture gluing dovetail joints, dowel joints) in furniture construction, polyvinyl acetate adhesives (PVAC) are often used. This well-known “white wood glue” provides by far the strongest joint. In addition, polyurethane glue (PU glue) can also be used under certain circumstances.
A bond with PVAC wood glue occurs because the water contained in the glue benads through the wood fibers and wood grain substrate and later evaporates. This ensures that, when joined together and with sufficient pressure, there is an exceptionally strong bond between the parts. This is ideal when wanting to glue furniture. With a good glue joint, the wood joint to be glued will be stronger than the wood itself. There are various types of wood glue divided into classes, indicating where the glue is best to apply depending on where the final product will eventually be used.
D2 wood glue is used for indoor applications where short-term condensation and relative high humidity only occur occasionally. This type of adhesive is not recommended for bathroom or outdoor applications, as it loosens with prolonged exposure to moisture. D2 wood glue is therefore best used for interior construction, with the exception of furniture for the bathroom or sauna.
D3 wood glue is used for both interior and exterior applications, and has limited resistance to weathering. The adhesive does not easily release when the joint comes into contact with moisture, but it is only suitable for relatively short-term exposure. For this reason, this type of wood glue can be used well for furniture construction in bathrooms, for example.
D4 wood glue is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications involving frequent and high levels of condensation. In addition, this type of adhesive tolerates exposure to weather influences. D4 wood glue is ideally suited for applications such as outdoor furniture. The adhesive products we offer are 1-component, as opposed to the old-fashioned variety in which a D3 was brought to D4 as a 2-component.
Polyurethane glue , also known colloquially as bubble glue , is a commonly used adhesive in the construction of wood furniture. However, PU glue is used for more than just wood applications. This construction adhesive is also particularly suitable for bonding wood to another material. These adhesive bonds are particularly strong. Our range includes, for example, the K100 construction adhesives, but for an aesthetic result you can choose a brown or transparent variant of this construction adhesive.
Veneer processing
Surface joints of wood veneers can be made using a special type of D2 wood glue (FOLCO LIT D1837-007) developed specifically for this application. Since this type of glue prevents the glue bleeding through the wood, no discoloration of the wood takes place. The veneer glue in our range has an open time of 8-12 minutes and is therefore perfect for constructing veneer joints. You can order this glue from us by phone or email!
Spraytec adhesives: easy, clean and efficiënt
Spraytec adhesives are ideal for applications requiring a large coverage area . In addition, this product range is extremely suitable for use with heat-sensitive materials . Spraytec hot melt is therefore the perfect choice for furniture gluing: especially with regard to furniture upholstery.
The spray glue gun with the highest performance is the Tec 7300 . This robust glue gun is suitable for industrial use, and works extra efficiently due to the speed loader that can handle up to 3 43 mm glue cartridges. This minimizes the loss in production time caused by replenishing the glue supply. When applied to fabric, the Tec 7300 is best combined with light brown Spraytec 420 or transparent Spraytec 421 adhesive cartridges.

Contactspray adhesive: instant, powerful
Contact adhesive provides a permanently elastic bond because this adhesive is mostly rubber-based dissolved using naphtha, cyclohexane and butanone. The adhesive is sprayed double-sided onto the substrate, after which the solvents evaporate. After evaporation, a dry, slightly sticky adhesive film remains. Pressing vigorously with an adhesive roller creates a good adhesive bond on both parts. Contactspray adhesive is particularly useful in the furniture industry because it creates a direct bond. For an extra strong bond , we recommend using the Bondtack HT spray glue a high-quality extra strong spray adhesive with fast tack, good heat resistance and waterproof bonding. Our range also includes an ecological spray adhesive variant: Bondtack ECO Sprayglue . Both products can be used in combination with the Bondtack Hose and the Bondtack VAR glue gun.
