What is epoxy glue?
Epoxy glue is an adhesive consisting of 2 components. This adhesive provides a strong and fast bond. Epoxy glue is also resistant to water, grease, solvents, heat and cold.
The two components are stored separately and mixed separately during use. Mixing can be done by a special mixing syringe (DuoMix-Bond Dubbelloops) or manually. When mixing, a chemical reaction occurs; this is an exothermic reaction. That is, energy is released during curing in the form of heat. After curing, epoxy assures you of a strong and stable bond!
What can you use epoxy for?
Epoxy works well on several surfaces. These include wood, metal, aluminum, polyester, plastics, stone, concrete and more. This makes it perfect to use to achieve an extra strong bond with your bonding.
Wood.
Epoxy adhesive is commonly used on wood to fill holes and cracks. First, sand the surface to be glued and make sure it is dust-free. Mix the two components in a 1-to-1 ratio and use this to fill the wood damage. For a nice finish, you can wipe off the excess glue with a flat surface, such as a putty knife. After it dries, you can finish by sanding the spot some more and repainting if necessary. A suitable product for this is the: Technicoll 9480 Epoxyglue.
Metals.
Epoxy adhesive is commonly used on various metals to join two surfaces together. This offers a neater solution than welding or screwing. Consider joining tools, fences and car parts. You can also coat metal surfaces with epoxy for a nice and smooth finish. A suitable product for this is the: Technicoll 9467 Epoxyglue.
Stone/concrete.
Epoxy adhesive can also be used for bonding or filling stone and concrete. Because of epoxy’s resistance to many external factors, this adhesive is ideally suited for joining stone and concrete. For this joint, follow the same steps as for applying epoxy to wooden materials. A suitable product for this is the: Technicoll 9462 Epoxyadhesive.
