The Technicoll 8044 PU contact adhesive is a useful product for the gluing of different kind of plastics, with each other but also with other materials, such as plasticized products. This contact adhesive is based on polyurethane and is often used on PVC foils, synthetic leather, truck canvas, PVC soft materials with PUR-foam for sport mats and massage tables, abrasive belts, door panels and dashboards in a vehicle. The materials that are often connected with this adhesive are leather, textile and acrylics glass.
Joint surfaces have to be dry and clean, but mostly free of oil, grease or solvents. In many cases, sanding the surface beforehand will strengthen the connection. This adhesive is mostly recommended for gluing elastomers. Apply a thin and even layer of Technicoll 8044 with a roller, truffle or a brush on both sides of the joint surfaces. The connection has a high initial strength. Wait a few days until you determine the actual strength.
Cold adhesive: After applying the contact glue has to evaporate for 5 to 10 minutes. Add the substrates precisely together and mount quickly under high pressure.
Hot adhesive: After applying the contact glue has to evaporate fully (minimal of 30 minutes). Add the substrates precisely together and mount under high pressure by 80°C. Apply pressure until the connection has cooled down.
