Prevent common glue problems with helpful solutions!
Ever become frustrated with glue that doesn’t work properly? In our latest blog, we share some common glue problems and useful solutions!

Poor adhesion
It may happen that the adhesive does not adhere optimally to the materials. Several factors can play a role in this, such as an uncleaned surface, improper preparation, or using the wrong adhesive for a specific material. Sometimes it is even a combination of these factors. To prevent poor adhesion, it is crucial to ensure that the surface is clean. For this reason, remove dust, dirt and grease thoroughly before applying the adhesive. It is also important to choose the right adhesive for the material you want to bond. There are several types of glues, including wood glue, metal glue and textile glue. Read the instructions on the package carefully to ensure that the right adhesive is used, and follow them carefully, as they often contain crucial information about the application method and possible preparations to improve adhesion.
Glue Stains
It can be difficult to apply adhesive neatly without staining. Unfortunately, glue spots can affect the appearance of the project or surface. For this reason, be careful when applying. Apply the adhesive evenly and in the right amount. Too much glue can result in staining and too little glue can result in weak coverage. Furthermore, you can use a clothespin to clamp the end of the glue gun to prevent drips. If things do go wrong, you can use a glue remover. If you want to remove glue stains quickly, you can use acetone or nail polish remover as an alternative should you not have glue remover. Test this on a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn’t damage the underlay.
Slow drying time
Some adhesives have a longer drying time, which can cause inconvenience and delay in completing a project. Want to avoid delays and surprises? Then read the instructions on the adhesive’s packaging first. This is because it states the recommended drying time. If you want the adhesive to dry faster, you can use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. Make sure you set the hair dryer on a low heat setting and don’t hold it too close to avoid overheating.
Glue residue
After use, glue residue can be difficult to remove and leave the surface looking sloppy. Avoid this by applying glue evenly and in the right amount. Use a clothespin to clamp the end of the glue gun to prevent drips. You can also use soap and water. Soak the item in warm water and then use a soft brush to wipe away the glue residue
