The right packaging is of great importance when transporting and selling PVF products. Many times set-up boxes or set-up trays are chosen for this purpose. The assembly of these packages can be achieved quickly, easily and efficiently by means of an adhesive bond. However, the ideal packaging adhesive for this joint depends on several factors, such as the packaging material and climate used.

“We like to think along with you in order to reach the right choice for your process. Therefore, we offer a wide range of adhesives suitable for packing PVF products, based on both ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and metallocene. Both packaging adhesives offer high bonding performance, but applicability varies based on, for example, the type of carton and the coating used,” says Tjerk Kriek of Lijmpartner.

“For single corrugated board without coating, an EVA connection often provides sufficient adhesion. For double-coated cardboard, for example, metallocene is generally a better choice because this type of plastic has a higher initial strength. At temperatures below freezing, however, EVA performs better than metallocene. Therefore, choosing the right adhesive product is always a trade-off between the advantages and disadvantages of both products.”

“Both EVA and metallocene adhesives are ideally suited for use in combination with an aspiration system. When setting up PVF trays, this combination shows its added value in enhancing continuity and increasing ease of production well. It provides an ergonomic system with a clean cut-off and leaves no residue behind. Leading to little to no contamination of the gluing system and therefore longer durability. Additionally, it provides options for precise setting of dosages.”

“The combination between hot melt and a feeder system provides savings in adhesive consumption through minimization of waste, as well as reduced risk of failure and low equipment maintenance costs. As Lijm Partner’s adhesives are supplied as granules, feeding is simplified.”
